Curriculum vitae (short IEEE paper style)
Gérard-André Capolino (A’77, M’82, SM’89, F’02, LF’19) received the B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Marseille, Marseille, France in 1974, the M.Sc. from CentraleSupelec, Paris, France in 1975, the Ph.D. from Aix-Marseille University, Marseille, France in 1978 and the D.Sc. from Grenoble Alpes University, Grenoble, France in 1987. He has been Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Picardie “Jules Verne”, Amiens, France (1994-2021). He is now Emeritus Professor of Electrical Engineering in the same department and in the same lab. He has published more than 600 papers and technical reports. He has been the President of the IEEE-Industrial Electronics Society (2012-2013) and the IEEE France Section Chair (2005-2007). His research interests are design, control and condition monitoring of electrical machines and drives.
He has received 5 prestigious international awards in the field of electrical machines: the 2008 IEEE-IES Dr.-Ing. Eugene Mittelmann Achievement Award, the 2010 ICEM Arthur Ellison Achievement Award, the 2011 IEEE-PELS Diagnostics Achievement Award, the 2016 ICEM John Tegopoulos Distinguished Service Award and the 2017 IEEE-PES Cyril Veinott Electromechanical Energy Conversion Award.
He has been Associate Editor has been an Associate Editor of the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS (2003-2018), the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER ELECTRONICS since 2003 and of the IEEE ACCESS since 2014. He has been also IEEE-IES ITeN Editorial Board Chair (2012-2019). He has been Guest Editor of IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS for 9 special sections on Electrical Machines: January 2010, May 2011, May 2012, June 2012, August 2013, September 2013, August 2014, September 2014 and March 2015.
He has been also the acting Chair for the Steering Committee of the International Conference on Electrical Machines (ICEM) from 2006 to 2019 and of the IEEE-SDEMPED from 1997 to 2019.
